Why people belong to LETS
People belong to LETS so that they can help each other
out from time to time. One good turn of course deserves
another. But in LETS, you don't have to return a favour
to the same person who helped you. You can give something
to a different member instead. And you do not have
to do it straight away.
What are HATS?
HATS are a sign that you are on your
honour to help one of the members another time. When a member
does you a favour, you give them some HATS. HATS tell you how
you stand; if you have a lot of HATS, youve been very giving.
We chose the name of HATS because of Stockport's hatting history.
OFFERS and WANTS
Members say what their OFFERS are. These are things
that they would like to give away in the Group, or things they
might do for any member of the Group, They also say what
their WANTS are. These are things they would like to be
given to them, or to have done for them.
To help you find out who might offer what you want (and to
help them to find out if you can give what they want), we put
all the members WANTS and OFFERs into our Directory.
Have a look at a Directory and you will see how easy it is
(printable version on the left of this page).
The Directory is anonymous, but a member can find out who
to contact about their offers.
